Hello Friends and Family,
All I can say is the mission work in the south is hard! right now we have 4 investigators but they aren't progressing. every time we share something with the investigators they just refer it back to the Bible. they love the bible down here. elder Adams and I were sharing a message to a less active who is paralyzed from the neck down and he has nurses that come take care of him so one of caretakers husband was there and comes up to us and says, "what's yall religion" we tell him we are Mormons. The old guy mumbles, "yall the ones that write your own bible eh" and we don't respond because he just wanted to bible bash but you should have seen this guy, he looked like a homeless dude with a lot of missing teeth and one bad attitude. the way he talked to his wife made me so mad but there is nothing I can do.
we went over to Zandra's house on Saturday and shared a message with here. she lives in the hood so its pretty sketchy to drive through there in our gold Toyota corolla (the gold toilet) but most of the colored folk are nice here. she lives in a very small house with about 15 other people and she hates living there and wants to move but doesn't have money. we invited her to church but she's scared that everyone at church will be white and judge her on the clothes she wears. I feel really bad for her. she ended up not coming to church but we are trying to work really close with the relief society to fellowship her into the ward!
I was asked to teach a lesson in gospel principles so I prepared a lesson on charity. class time came around and no one came because the whole church pretty much leaves after sacrament. this area is hard and the ward is falling apart :(. good thing we have a solid plan. the plan is to focus on families. there are a lot of really strong sisters that go to church and there husbands don't support them with their decision so we are focusing on those types of families. we think it will help a lot.
I hope all is well at home and everyone is loving each other because love is what jesus does and aren't we all trying to be like jesus? I challenge all of you to love like Christ loves and look at people for what they can become not what they are. all you need is love!!! I love you all
